Carabao Cup Semi Finals

Carabao Cup Semi Finals

Manchester United took a significant step towards picking up their first piece of silverware since 2017, as they advanced to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup with victory against League One side Charlton.

Awaiting United in the last 4 is Nottingham Forest, with the fixture to be played over two legs at the end of January. Game 1 is at the City Ground on January 24th, with the return leg the following week at Old Trafford, on February 1st. We’ve got some great hospitality packages available for the second leg, which you can find here, or give us a call on 01454 201210 and we’ll happily discuss your requirements, to find the best solution for your group.

United will head into the tie as firm favourites to book their place at Wembley for the final on February 26th, and recent statistics back this up. They haven’t been beaten by Forest since 1994 – a period that includes eight matches, seven of which they’ve won.

Recent History

The clubs have met on three previous occasions in the League Cup. The first meeting came at Old Trafford in the Quarter Finals of the 1982/83 competition, the home side cruising to a 4-0 win; the next meeting came in the 1992 League Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, Brian McClair’s early goal proving to be the difference between the two sides. Most recently, Forest visited Old Trafford in the 4th round in November 1998, when an inexperienced United side won 2-1, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scoring both goals.

Four Premier League clubs remain in this year’s competition, and they’ve all got different reasons to be eager for a trophy. Reaching Wembley, and taking the trophy back to Manchester would be a great boost for Eric ten Hag in his first season in charge at Old Trafford, and achieving success in February could provide a boost to their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League as the Premier League season approaches its final stages.

The only issue facing the United manager is that his side are in an extremely busy period. As well as three more Premier League fixtures, United have an FA Cup tie against Reading and this two-legged semi-final before the end of January, before they get back into European action next month with a mouth-watering double header against Barcelona.

But more fixtures means more opportunity for you to experience the excellent hospitality at Old Trafford, so don’t hesitate, give us a call and we’ll help you choose the best experience available.
