Carabao Cup

Round 4 Fixtures available at Circuit

Immediately after the England squad return home with the World Cup in their hands (well, we can dream), some of the players will be thrown straight back into domestic action, in long sleeves and gloves most probably, to fight for a place in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.

We have some fantastic hospitality packages available for two tantalising fixtures, a perfect pre-Christmas treat for you and your loved ones, friends or clients.

Manchester United v Burnley

First up on Wednesday December 21st, Old Trafford is the venue for a North West derby, as former Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany brings his Burnley side 30 miles down the M66 to face Manchester United. Burnley are riding high in the Championship, leading the race for promotion back to the top flight, having lost only two of their 21 games so far this season. Experienced centre-forward, and local lad, Jay Rodriguez is the joint leading scorer in the league
so far with 9, and has scored at Old Trafford on two previous occasions – in 2013 for Southampton, and the last time Burnley won against United in 2020. That 2-0 win was the only time the visitors have taken the spoils at Old Trafford in the last 60 years, but given the fact that United have 16 players in Qatar representing their countries compared with Burnley’s two – Anass Zaroury of Morocco and Connor Roberts of Wales, it may be a weakened United side that lines up to face the Clarets. Manchester City v Liverpool

The following night, on the other side of Manchester, Liverpool are the visitors to the Etihad. Once again, the two sides may be without some of their biggest stars, which in some way makes the tie even more intriguing. 16 City players, and 7 from Liverpool are playing in the World Cup, but Pep Guardiola’s historic dedication to winning this particular trophy – City have won it in 5 of the last 7 seasons – should mean he fields a strong side. Liverpool, meanwhile, are the current holders after their narrow victory against Chelsea earlier this year, and will be focussed on retaining the crown.

These are also the two clubs who have won the League Cup on more occasions than any other clubs – Liverpool 9 times, and City on 8 occasions, which is sure to add a bit of festive spice to the game. Furthermore, every time these two sides have met in the League Cup, since their first meeting in September 1969, the victors have gone on to lift the trophy. It would be a brave person who would bet against history repeating itself this time around.
