UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE – ROUND OF 16

Liverpool v Real Madrid

The elite teams from across the continent have been paired up in the last 16 of the Champions League, and inevitably it has thrown up some intriguing contests. Paris Saint Germain, with their incomparable front three of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi, were handed a stiff test against 6-time European champions Bayern Munich. Every season brings renewed pressure on PSG to win the tournament, given the riches that have facilitated their recent growth, and beating the likes of Bayern is a necessary step towards glory. Then there’s the repeat of last year’s final – Liverpool v Real Madrid. The first part of this campaign hasn’t gone too well for Jurgen Klopp’s side, and with the Premier League title seemingly out of reach, perhaps the European Cup will be their primary goal this season.

Manchester City v RB Leipzig

Manchester City on the other had are fighting for success on all fronts, domestic and continental, and are clear favourites to win the Champions League – something obviously helped by a favourable draw in the last 16, where they will face German side RB Leipzig. City look a different beast altogether this season with the addition of Erling Haaland, but will that be enough to take them all the way to Istanbul in June? If you fancy visiting the Etihad for the second leg of this tie on March 14th, we’ve got a range of fantastic hospitality packages available here.

Chelsea v Borussia Dortmund

Chelsea will also consider their last-16 draw to be relatively favourable, as they face another German side, Borussia Dortmund. Both teams have underachieved in their respective leagues leading up to the World Cup break, so it’s an intriguing contest; all the more so as it’s their first meeting in European competition. But while they may never have played each other, there is a bit of shared history, with Chelsea forwards Christian Pulisic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang potentially taking the field against their former club. The second leg of this tie will be played at Stamford Bridge on March 7th, and we’ve got some great hospitality on offer. Just click here and take your pick.

Tottenham Hotspur v AC Milan

Across London, former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte faces a trip back to his homeland as his Tottenham side have been drawn against AC Milan. Milan were once the darlings of Europe, champions of Europe on 7 occasions, and will be a stern test for Spurs, who are desperate for some silverware, having not added to their trophy cabinet since they won the League Cup in 2008. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was made for big European nights like this, so if you want
to experience a superb match at one of the world’s finest stadia, we’ve got just the hospitality package for you to enjoy when Milan visit the capital on March 8th. Click here for details.

EUROPA LEAGUE – KNOCKOUT ROUND PLAY-OFFS

Manchester United v Barcelona

Meanwhile in the Europa League draw, there was only one fixture that everyone was talking about – as two of the giants of modern football were thrown together in a play off for a place in the last 16… Barcelona and Manchester United. This will be the 14th time the two sides have met, with Barcelona having won 6 times, to United’s 4. It almost seems wrong that the two teams should meet in a competition other than the Champions League, but the quality of the tie inevitably elevates interest in the Europa League, and the winners will be fancied to go all the way in the
competition. Barcelona host the first leg on February 16th, and we have some great hospitality on offer for the decisive second leg at Old Trafford on February 23rd. Click here for details.
