Crystal Palace

Last season Crystal Palace lifted the first major trophy of their history. Ending an 134 year drought, against the then-Premier League Champions Manchester City in a dramatic FA Cup Final.

The win ended a century-long drought and secured their place in the Europa league – marking the club’s first-ever European campaign.

Under Oliver Glasner, whose Europa League credentials were proven with Eintracht Frankfurt’s 2022 win over Rangers. The German now must prepare the Eagles for a historic 2025/26 season with European nights on the horizon.

Despite the increased amount of matches, sources have hinted at a measured approach to the transfer market.

According to Football Insider, former Everton CEO Wyness stated Crystal Palace may only pursue “one or two additions” to the current starting XI suggesting a belief in the core Glasner has shaped.

Before the transfer window closes, Crystal Palace will mark another milestone: their appearance in the Community Shield will be their third final in a decade, another chance to add silverware to their growing trophy cabinet.

Liverpool

Liverpool have etched their name into English football history once again, claiming their 20th top-flight title a feat that sees them draw level with Manchester United for the most league titles in English football history.

The triumph came under new manager Arne Slot, who delivered glory in his first season at Anfield.

This marks only Liverpool’s second Premier League title since the competition’s inception in 1992. Their first came in the 2019/20 season under Jürgen Klopp, during the COVID-19 pandemic, where matches were played behind closed doors.

In contrast, this season wrapped up with elation from fans with the Reds sealing the crown following a 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur, clinching the title with four games to spare.

All Time EPL Goals + Assists Contributions (Via Premier League)

Leading the charge was none other than Mohamed Salah, who had a sensational season. The Egyptian contributed 47 of Liverpool’s 86 goals (goals + assists), making him the player with the highest goal contributions in a single Premier League season during the 38-game era.

While the title brought jubilation, change looms on the horizon. Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah have both committed to a new two-year deal.

However, the club bids farewell to Trent Alexander-Arnold, the academy graduate widely regarded as one of the world’s best right-backs. After over a decade at the club, Trent leaves on a free transfer to Real Madrid, signaling the end of an era.

Looking ahead, Liverpool are already planning the next chapter. Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong, both key figures in Bayer Leverkusen’s recent resurgence, are on the radar. The Reds are also tracking Milos Kerkez, the promising Bournemouth fullback.

The transfers being linked indicate that the side will want to go strength to strength and go a season which will see the Reds challenge on all fronts. One that starts with the Community Shield.

Head-to-Head

In the last 15 competitive matches between the two, Liverpool have won 11, drawn 3, and lost 1.

While Liverpool remain favourites, Crystal Palace’s recent form and attacking capabilities under Glasner could lead to an exciting and unpredictable match.
