Our Guide to Visiting Stamford Bridge

Chelsea vs Liverpool

If you’re planning to attend a match at Chelsea Football Club, here’s a useful guide to help you make the most of your day, and make it as easy and enjoyable as possible.

What to bring!
As with the majority of football clubs in the Premier League, Chelsea has reconfigured Stamford Bridge as an entirely cashless stadium. So all you need to bring in order to purchase refreshments, or mementos from the club shop, is your bank card. It is also worth noting that supporters are not permitted to bring bags larger than A4 size into the stadium. Small hand bags are generally OK, but please don’t bring anything bigger, as there is no bag-drop facility at Stamford Bridge.

Getting to Stamford Bridge
London is not a particularly great city to drive around, so we advise that you leave the car at home and try to make use of the public transport systems to take the stress out of your day, The London Underground network makes travelling around the capital incredibly straightforward, wherever you’re starting out from. The closest underground station to the stadium is Fulham Broadway, which is on the Wimbledon branch of the District Line – coloured green on the London Underground map. If you are visiting from outside London, there is also an overground station called Imperial Wharf, situated a few hundred metres from Stamford Bridge next to the upmarket Chelsea Harbour redevelopment. Trains from Imperial Wharf connect with the mainline services to the North at Watford Junction and the South at Clapham Junction. Times and further service details can be found here.

Alternatively, of course, you can take a bit more time and walk to the stadium from somewhere nearby, soaking up some of the matchday spirit while checking out the historic buildings and architecture that this part of London has to offer. Stamford Bridge is close to the fashionable shopping and dining areas of the Kings Road, Sloane Square, Kensington and Knightsbridge, as well as London’s most prestigious museums – the Natural History Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Science Museum.

Timings
The VIP hospitality areas at Stamford Bridge open 2.5 hours before the match kicks off, with the exception of the Museum experience which is 5 hours before due to the tours included.  You have plenty of time to settle in, enjoy some of the excellent food inside the suites, and even meet some of the club legends who move around the building greeting guests in the VIP areas. The experience of hospitality at Chelsea is right up there with the best in world sport, so make sure you arrive early enough to enjoy everything that is on offer! After the match you’ll also be able to enjoy a drink and something to eat in the hospitality areas, discuss the match with your friends and family, while the rest of the crowd disperses – and with a bit of luck, by the time you get back to the underground station the queues will have disappeared and you’ll be able to enjoy a smooth journey home, basking in the fantastic Chelsea FC hospitality you’ve experienced.

Hotels
London is one of the world’s most visited cities, so you’ll have no problem finding accommodation if you’re planning to stay over in London. If you really want to make your visit to Stamford Bridge as simple as possible, you can even stay at the stadium, with the Millennium and Copthorne Hotels boasting over 230 rooms in their building adjacent to the stadium itself. A little further afield you’ll find every recognisable hotel brand under the sun, with deals and packages to suit all requirements. We’ll be happy to help you out with this when you book with us.
